We’ve seen a lot of uncertainty in the office and on social media regarding COVID vaccination during your reproductive years and we wanted to provide you a trusted source for information. We have neatly summarized many studies, frequently asked questions, and research highlights regarding the three COVID vaccines available locally.
If you are pregnant, you are at a higher risk of a severe complication of COVID-19 disease, such as ICU admission, and mechanical ventilation. If you have underlying health problems, you are at an even higher risk of severe illness. So far, the safety data and side effects have been similar in pregnant and non-pregnant individuals. Additionally, there has not been a difference in efficacy for pregnant vs non-pregnant individuals.
Vaccine components have not appeared to cross into the placenta, newborn, or breast milk, but the antibodies generated in the mother have provided immunity to babies. We believe so strongly in this technology that Dr. Malayev even participated in a clinical study from the University of Massachusetts to see the antibody response in breast milk for vaccinated patients!
Finally, there have been no concerns regarding fertility with vaccination. The claims regarding infertility have all been unfounded and refuted by The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
