We have many different options of birth control to discuss. Some women choose short-acting methods, such as a daily, weekly, or monthly medication, while others choose a long-acting reversible method such as an implant or injection, and even some may choose permanent sterilization for themselves or their partners.
Recently, Drs Benjamin and Malayev took a short 5-question quiz about contraception methods, as they relate to patient satisfaction. We learned that up to 36% of women are dissatisfied with their present contraceptive method, and 40% of women are getting the majority of their information regarding contraception from the internet (whether blog sites, direct to consumer advertising, or social media). Part of this is due to lacking education; only 28 states and the District of Columbia have mandatory requirements regarding contraception.
We want to meet with you to discuss what your options are currently and in the future, to plan with you for how many children are desired, and to assist you to meet your goals. We want to educate you about the available options, their efficacy rates, their tolerability, and what it would mean for you, your family, and your future.
