Family Planning
If you’re planning on expanding your family, your provider can help you prepare. Your provider may discuss a variety of pre-conception topics, including:
- Fertility assessments
- Vitamins and supplements
- Medical history that may affect your future child or pregnancy outcomes
Your provider may also take some time to do pre-pregnancy counseling to ensure you’re feeling ready to start a family. This is a great time to ask any questions you have about pregnancy and the healthcare you can expect to receive.
Pregnancy Care
Our providers have extensive experience and education working with parents who have a variety of healthcare needs. Your provider will continue to monitor your health and your baby’s as it develops, and schedule checkups based on your pregnancy. Pregnancy visits may include various health screenings and ultrasounds. You’ll even have an opportunity to discover your baby’s sex!
Our providers also have extensive experience working with pregnant parents undergoing high-risk pregnancies. High-risk pregnancies involve closer monitoring and more frequent appointments to keep you and your baby as healthy as possible.
More than 34 Program
One of our practices, Women’s Health Consultants, offers specific resources, counseling, and testing for women over 34 years old who are planning to conceive or are already pregnant.
Please contact your local provider if you have questions or want to know who else at UWH of Michigan may offer this service.
Labor and Delivery
After you’ve delivered your baby, your provider will continue to monitor your condition and recovery. We are available to help you adjust to parenthood and get the healthcare you need in the weeks after you’ve given birth, including lactation support and birth control options.
