If you’ve come to our office complaining of urinary leakage, we want you to know that you aren’t alone. Approximately 18 million women are affected by this common condition!
Urinary leakage can be caused by an organic cause, such as a medication, or a bladder infection. Sometimes, leakage is caused by urethral mobility, or a loss of support at the level of the urethra.
Typically, symptoms will worsen with conditions that increase abdominal pressure, such as coughing, laughing/sneezing, lifting and running. Additional types of incontinence can also be caused by a weakness of the bladder muscle
We specialize in the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction, from conservative referrals to pelvic floor physical therapy, to at-home devices which function to strengthen the vaginal vault. If you’ve already tried conservative therapy, you may be a candidate for intravaginal therapy, injections, or true surgical options such as a small, mesh sling to support the urethra.
