March is National Women’s History Month, a month dedicated to the significant contributions many women have made to society over the course of time. At Walnut Lake OB/GYN and Wellness we are so proud to be part of the movement to empower women and girls. We empower other women by giving them a safe space where they can discuss their goals whether it be medical or aesthetic or even personal goals for growth.
Our Inspiration
“My inspiration for Woman’s History Month is Alexa Canady, MD. She grew up in Lansing, Michigan and graduated cum laude from the College of Medicine at the University of Michigan and in 1981 she become the first African-American woman pediatric neurosurgeon in the United States. At the age of 36, she became the Chief of Neurosurgery at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. A pioneer of medicine and an inspiration to all, she retired in 2001” ~ Dr. Katz
“Elizabeth Blackwell is my inspiration for Women’s History Month. She was the first female physician in the United States and a pioneer for promoting education for women in medicine. She paved the way for medical careers for women!” ~ Dr. O’Keefe
